January 31, 2010

I did some senior photos for Shelby today. This is one of my favorites of the day.

January 30, 2010

I love capturing silhouettes. I spent some time today taking photos of my friend's daughter. We had an amazing sky this day, and that, coupled with her and her trombone, made for a great photo.

January 29, 2010

Today was "Pajama Party Day" at Preschool. I certainly wished someone had reminded me of that prior to leaving for school. Yes, I remembered when we walked in and all the kidlets were in their PJs. Oh, the horrors! Bad Mommy! As luck would have it, we live close enough where I was able to drop off Oliver to class and run home and get his jammies and favorite stuffed animal ("Oliver-Dog") and race back. After class was over, I got a quick shot of my sweaty, sugared-up, unwilling subject as he ran circles around me, totally oblivious to the fact that he had been without jammies for 20 minutes.

January 28, 2010

Let's face it, if I am having a poor day in the photography department, there will always be a photo from Oliver's thursday taekwondo class waiting for display. I am a fixture at the window, shooting, waiting to capture a part of our little guy's exercise regime. Nothing fancy here, just a capture of Oliver trying his hand at a kick/swirl combo.

January 27, 2010

This was one of those days where I ended up with a few photos and it is so difficult for me to choose just one. They all were a small part of our day, so I gave Oliver the task of choosing. He did not hesitate one bit...and this one won easily. His reasoning?

"Because I look like a REAL chef!"

Reason enough for me.

January 26, 2010

Found a clump of dandelions on our morning walk today. Oliver's wish was on the personal side, but I can say that it was very sweet.

January 25, 2010

Took an afternoon out for some snow time on Mt. Charleston. Oliver LOVES the snow (can you tell from his expression?) and spent the majority of his time chucking snowballs at the adults, then laughing about it!

January 24, 2010

Spent some time in the backyard this afternoon. The sun was going down and cast nice light on the wall decor on our back porch. I liked the texture of the netting.

January 23, 2010

After nearly a week of rain, the weather finally lets up. The temperature was like a cool, spring day. Oliver wanted to go to the park, so we loaded up that car and drove to Oliver's favorite one, what we call "the Chipmunk Park." We even took Skippie along with us so she could have her daily walk in a new place. She LOVED all the new smells. This is just a shot of Oliver hugging his favorite girl. After Skippie had her fun, we put her in the car (don't worry, it was cool enough) and I let Oliver play on the slides for a short bit.

January 22, 2010

After a week of dreary skies, the rain lets up, and a giant puddle stands in the middle of the gazebo. Oliver is dressed and ready for pre-k, but in the 5 minutes we had before leaving, I managed to catch a shot of him puddle-stompin'!

January 21, 2010

I have no idea what DS stands for on this game, I only know that it truly comes in handy on many occasions, including long waits in the doctor's office. Funny how 365 makes you look at things you've seen dozens of times in a more interesting light. I found myself looking at the office for something I could photograph. I was sitting at a lower level and the opportunity presented itself to me.

January 20, 2010

With the rain continuing to fall, the house too gloomy, I looked out on the back porch tonite for something to take a picture of...the shadow of the bigwheel looked kind of interesting. The light falling onto the back porch had a lovely glow.

January 19, 2010

Another rainy one, a good day to take the little one and the doggie for a drive through Red Rock Canyon. The clouds hung low across the desert and made for an eerie but beautiful landscape.

Monday, January 18, 2010

January 18, 2010

The rain drizzles on and all Oliver can do is stare out the window and wish it were better weather.

Sunday, January 17, 2010

January 17, 2010

On our morning walk. The sun is trying to peek out from behind the clouds.

Saturday, January 16, 2010

January 16, 2010

I babysat 5 of my friend's children during the weekend. I took this opportunity to get some photos of one of her girls. She is always so happy to pose.

January 15, 2010

Brad and I bought Oliver some licorice strings from the candy store on our date night. Here, Oliver exclaims "Mommy, look, I'm a catfish!" Glad our licorice can also be used as a plaything.

January 14, 2010

Another day at Taekwondo. Yes, that is me hanging out at the doorway taking the picture :)

January 13, 2010

Most of our days here in Las Vegas are bright, blue skies. When clouds arrive, it is an extra special treat for the eyes. Power lines do nothing for this, but time is of the essence. Thirty seconds after i snapped this shot the orange/red glow was gone.

January 12, 2010

Oliver LOVES getting his hair cut. He was extra chatty today, even while playing the videogame.

Monday, January 11, 2010

January 11, 2010

The balloon hats have surprised me and lasted a long time without losing too much air. Oliver has his fun with one for a good 25 minutes.

January 10, 2010

Our little guy loves to ride the moving walkways at the airport. Caught him in action here.

Saturday, January 9, 2010

January 9, 2010

We attended the wedding of our friend's son. The rose petals adorning the aisle were so beautiful, even after being trampled.

Friday, January 8, 2010

January 8, 2010

Date Night. Brad and I went to see The Beatles LOVE Cirque du Soleil Show at the Mirage. The showroom is a paradise for photo-taking. Here is an "eyeball" mirror in the sky.

January 7, 2010

Spent some time on Mt. Charleston today. Thought this was a pretty scene. This was my best vantage point without going over the bank!

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

January 6, 2010

This pretty much sums up my day. Two doctor visits, and a third ending at the dentist's office. Everyone looked at me like I was nutz! But I got my POTD.

January 5, 2010

This photo was actually taken my my DH. I thought it fit our day best, plus I liked that I was actually IN a picture. It was a beautiful day outside and we spent a lot of family time playing in the leaves.

January 4, 2010

Brad and I had some time to ourselves so we took a little time to enjoy some sights along the Strip. This is at the Bellagio Fountains. I liked the silhouettes, especially the 3 ladies along the left side, wearing their balloon "hats" made by a wheelchairing clown. We later had a balloon hat made to take home to Oliver. The clown was very sweet, and gave us 2 more so Brad and I could have one, too!

The Glitz and Glamour of Las Vegas shines in the night.

January 2, 2010

A night out on Fremont Street. "Fan Halen" was performing onstage. They weren't half bad! Fun people-watching and photo ops.

January 1, 2010

The year 2010 has arrived. And yes, I have finally hopped on the bandwagon and am trying my hand at Project 365. This encompasses snapping a photo-a-day, for one year. This will not only help to document the bits and pieces of our everyday life, but will hopefully bump up my photography skills in the process. I do not consider myself to be overly creative, but this project, with any luck, will help me see ordinary things in extraordinary ways. Go ahead. Take a peek into our daily life!

Our traditional New Year's Day Meal of black-eyed peas/rice, ham, mustard greens, and a pile of homemade macaroni-and-cheese. A cold brew for the mister rounds off this meal. Yum! Hoping these peas will bring us much prosperity this year!
