Caught our Skippie girl in the middle of a yawn, or cough, not sure which. Looks like she is hollering for me to get dinner started!

Two hummingbirds were buzzing around our front window this afternoon. They let me get so very close, close enough to capture their beautiful colors. This is called an "Ana's Hummingbird."

I love trying to catch sunbursts and sunflares. This one was taken at a horse-boarding facility near our home. The rocket says "Protect Your Animals."

I took Oliver to the cheesy carnival on the corner tonite. He had a blast. Here's a hand-held shot of the ferris-wheel before we hopped aboard.

After 3 days of fever and wails that the "house is spinning around me," we headed to the doctor's office. We use a popular doctor and the wait can be very long at times. Oliver wasn't well, but he wasn't as sick as some of the nasties we saw going around in the "sick" side of the waiting room. So, we waited in the hallway. Oliver brought his "Monster Guide" with him for entertainment.

We live across the street from a large drainage basin, the bottom of which houses 3 large dog parks, and the top portion a walking/riding track. The lights of Summerlin (an area of town) flicker as far as one can see, but actually to the base of the mountains. I love the view.

We always pass the Pet Cemetery on thursdays. Oliver asked if we could go there sometime. So, I took him later that afternoon. We have seen 2 of our girls pass through here and really it is a beautiful, peaceful place. We looked at the markers with all the pets' names, saw the stuffed animals humans leave behind with their beloved pets, and read the many markers and poems. I read him the Rainbow Bridge on a marker, we talked about it, and death, and even shed a few tears as well for our furbabies that have passed before us. I want him to not be afraid of such things, to have respect, and realize the peacefulness, love, and beauty that resides here.

Today was the Preschool Valentine's Day party. There were Valentines, candy, and LOTS of treats and cookies. There is not much that makes Oliver more happy than a sweetheart cookie!

Little Skippie was a terror the first 3 years of her life. She would tear/chew anything and everything up. Her middle and older years have been great as far as chewing things up is concerned. But just when I think she's too old to bother anymore and I get lax about leaving things out, she surprises me. We came home from an errand tonite to find a torn-up (and licked clean) frozen dinner box in our bedroom. I give her "the look" and she sulks away knowing she has been a rotten girl. Then she lays down in the background looking on pathetically...as IF i would beat her! :D My floor rug also looks disgustingly dirty...I am hoping it is just the photo treatment!

Aging pups require a lot of maintenance. This is Skippie's daily dose of medicine for this week. Usually it is only 7 pills, but it has increased this week due to some issues we are trying to control. Thankfully she is a good girl and it is not much of a struggle to get them down her throat. She has been taking routine meds since she was a pup, so I suppose she is as used to it as one can be...

Today was "Pajama Party Day" at Preschool. I certainly wished someone had reminded me of that prior to leaving for school. Yes, I remembered when we walked in and all the kidlets were in their PJs. Oh, the horrors! Bad Mommy! As luck would have it, we live close enough where I was able to drop off Oliver to class and run home and get his jammies and favorite stuffed animal ("Oliver-Dog") and race back. After class was over, I got a quick shot of my sweaty, sugared-up, unwilling subject as he ran circles around me, totally oblivious to the fact that he had been without jammies for 20 minutes.

Let's face it, if I am having a poor day in the photography department, there will always be a photo from Oliver's thursday taekwondo class waiting for display. I am a fixture at the window, shooting, waiting to capture a part of our little guy's exercise regime. Nothing fancy here, just a capture of Oliver trying his hand at a kick/swirl combo.

This was one of those days where I ended up with a few photos and it is so difficult for me to choose just one. They all were a small part of our day, so I gave Oliver the task of choosing. He did not hesitate one bit...and this one won easily. His reasoning?
"Because I look like a REAL chef!"
Reason enough for me.
