March 15, 2010

Caught our Skippie girl in the middle of a yawn, or cough, not sure which. Looks like she is hollering for me to get dinner started!

Lovely bokeh created by wonderful light and our Lady Banks' Roses.

March 13, 2010

Two hummingbirds were buzzing around our front window this afternoon. They let me get so very close, close enough to capture their beautiful colors. This is called an "Ana's Hummingbird."

After-bath shot of our little cutie.

March 11, 2010

Worked in the yard today and discovered something else broken that needs to be fixed...a disintegrated pop-up in the spa. Not a good sight, but makes for a neat little eruption of water.

March 10, 2010

Oliver's breakfast this morning. I rarely can get him to eat eggs but he decided he'd try them if they were GREEN. We had bacon instead of ham. He woofed his eggs down BECAUSE they were green. I was NOT able to eat mine because they were green! The brain works in mysterious ways...

March 9, 2010

Another day at taekwondo. Oliver is getting much better at his front kicks.

Monday, March 8, 2010

March 8, 2010

This week's stack of books from our library run. Oliver's main interests are anything scary...i.e. MONSTERS...creatures...creatures of the deep...and any books with DOGS as the main characters.

A simple photo in honor of our 18th wedding anniversary.
Miss you.

More starburst activity at the horse-boarding facility.

March 3, 2010

On our morning walk we walked past this peach tree in full bloom. The bee was a nice perk!

March 1, 2010

The plum tree has had new buds and finally is beginning to blossom!

February 28, 2010

I love trying to catch sunbursts and sunflares. This one was taken at a horse-boarding facility near our home. The rocket says "Protect Your Animals."

Photo of friends before their Sadie Hawkins Dance.

February 26, 2010

I took Oliver to the cheesy carnival on the corner tonite. He had a blast. Here's a hand-held shot of the ferris-wheel before we hopped aboard.

February 25, 2010

During our morning walk with our own doggie, we ran into a neighbor and her dog (in a stroller) :) Precious said hello to Oliver with a snakey-lick.

February 24, 2010

Dinner tonite. White brats and sauerkraut, simmered in beer, naturally.

Shot of the glass garden ball.

February 22, 2010

After 3 days of fever and wails that the "house is spinning around me," we headed to the doctor's office. We use a popular doctor and the wait can be very long at times. Oliver wasn't well, but he wasn't as sick as some of the nasties we saw going around in the "sick" side of the waiting room. So, we waited in the hallway. Oliver brought his "Monster Guide" with him for entertainment.

February 21, 2010

Oliver has been sick with fever for 2 days.

February 20, 2010

We live across the street from a large drainage basin, the bottom of which houses 3 large dog parks, and the top portion a walking/riding track. The lights of Summerlin (an area of town) flicker as far as one can see, but actually to the base of the mountains. I love the view.

February 19, 2010

Our Skippie girl had a long day at the vet's office. A routine dental cleaning turned into a throat biopsy. Here she is home and resting (still drugged up). I love the pink bandage.

February 18, 2010

We always pass the Pet Cemetery on thursdays. Oliver asked if we could go there sometime. So, I took him later that afternoon. We have seen 2 of our girls pass through here and really it is a beautiful, peaceful place. We looked at the markers with all the pets' names, saw the stuffed animals humans leave behind with their beloved pets, and read the many markers and poems. I read him the Rainbow Bridge on a marker, we talked about it, and death, and even shed a few tears as well for our furbabies that have passed before us. I want him to not be afraid of such things, to have respect, and realize the peacefulness, love, and beauty that resides here.

February 17, 2010

Oliver was feeling a bit on the puny side today, but we took a few minutes out back to get some fresh air. He wanted to blow bubbles, but that lasted for about 3 minutes before he wanted to come back in. This was what I caught.

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

February 16, 2010

I keep a wreath out for Mardi Gras. This is about as close as it gets out here in the desert away from the "real" festivities. My poor wreath is quite pathetic and weathered, but it shows the spirit!

February 15, 2010

We enjoyed some time outside today, including savoring some candy from Valentine's Day. Nothing like a blue mouth!

Sunday, February 14, 2010

February 14, 2010

A whole day of Valentine-themed food. I've never made heart-shaped pancakes before, so they weren't the prettiest things. But, they were pink, had chocolate chips in them, they had butter and sprinkles, AND they were made with love. And those were the factors that Oliver cared about the most!

February 13, 2010

Does the liquid in a 3-month old Cherry Cordial stay liquid after that long?

Yes, it does. And it's purty, too.

Friday, February 12, 2010

February 12, 2010

Today was the Preschool Valentine's Day party. There were Valentines, candy, and LOTS of treats and cookies. There is not much that makes Oliver more happy than a sweetheart cookie!

Thursday, February 11, 2010

February 11, 2010

It's Taekwondo Thursday again! Oliver is still learning his somersaults. On this round he tried and rolled sideways right off the mat. He was all balled up and just sat there dazed for a minute, staring at me through the window. I was totally cracking up, as was his master!

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

February 10, 2010

We spent some time at the park this late afternoon. It was such a pretty day.

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

February 9, 2010

This is DMV Hell. I had to go to take care of some paperwork. This was the line just to get inside the building. Then there were 100 more people in line inside. And THAT was just to get a number to START WAITING in the important line! Needless to say, I left. Maybe I'll try another branch :(

February 8, 2010

Little Skippie was a terror the first 3 years of her life. She would tear/chew anything and everything up. Her middle and older years have been great as far as chewing things up is concerned. But just when I think she's too old to bother anymore and I get lax about leaving things out, she surprises me. We came home from an errand tonite to find a torn-up (and licked clean) frozen dinner box in our bedroom. I give her "the look" and she sulks away knowing she has been a rotten girl. Then she lays down in the background looking on pathetically...as IF i would beat her! :D My floor rug also looks disgustingly dirty...I am hoping it is just the photo treatment!

February 7, 2010

Oliver still has trouble peeling bananas so he asked to try again this morning. After he finished mauling the top-half of the banana, he admired his handiwork before diving in.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

February 6, 2010

A day of Guitar Hero with some friends. Oliver is right there in the center jamming on the guitar. Not the best photo technically, but it sums up our day of fun.

Friday, February 5, 2010

February 5, 2010

We had a very old apple left in the bowl so I cut it open to see if it was still good. It wasn't. But I liked the slice with the star window, so I put a candle behind it to practice some low-light shots. My own organic votive.

February 4, 2010

Aging pups require a lot of maintenance. This is Skippie's daily dose of medicine for this week. Usually it is only 7 pills, but it has increased this week due to some issues we are trying to control. Thankfully she is a good girl and it is not much of a struggle to get them down her throat. She has been taking routine meds since she was a pup, so I suppose she is as used to it as one can be...

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

February 3, 2010

Another day at the vet's office. Poor girl...Skippie just stands there., ears perked, staring at the window in the door, waiting for the familiar click of the door handle...then Dr. K waltzes in and the fun begins.

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

February 2, 2010

I realized the day had escaped and I had no picture. Teenagers making cookies, bad lighting, and haste produced this photo. At least the subject looks yummy :)

Monday, February 1, 2010

February 1, 2010

I helped babysit a precious little 8-month old today. He was a charmer, and Oliver had a lot of fun playing with him. This was not my photo-of-the-day, but due to privacy issues I am not able to post my chosen photo. Instead, I am posting this one showing Oliver going head-to-head with the baby.

January 31, 2010

I did some senior photos for Shelby today. This is one of my favorites of the day.

Saturday, January 30, 2010

January 30, 2010

I love capturing silhouettes. I spent some time today taking photos of my friend's daughter. We had an amazing sky this day, and that, coupled with her and her trombone, made for a great photo.

January 29, 2010

Today was "Pajama Party Day" at Preschool. I certainly wished someone had reminded me of that prior to leaving for school. Yes, I remembered when we walked in and all the kidlets were in their PJs. Oh, the horrors! Bad Mommy! As luck would have it, we live close enough where I was able to drop off Oliver to class and run home and get his jammies and favorite stuffed animal ("Oliver-Dog") and race back. After class was over, I got a quick shot of my sweaty, sugared-up, unwilling subject as he ran circles around me, totally oblivious to the fact that he had been without jammies for 20 minutes.

January 28, 2010

Let's face it, if I am having a poor day in the photography department, there will always be a photo from Oliver's thursday taekwondo class waiting for display. I am a fixture at the window, shooting, waiting to capture a part of our little guy's exercise regime. Nothing fancy here, just a capture of Oliver trying his hand at a kick/swirl combo.

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

January 27, 2010

This was one of those days where I ended up with a few photos and it is so difficult for me to choose just one. They all were a small part of our day, so I gave Oliver the task of choosing. He did not hesitate one bit...and this one won easily. His reasoning?

"Because I look like a REAL chef!"

Reason enough for me.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

January 26, 2010

Found a clump of dandelions on our morning walk today. Oliver's wish was on the personal side, but I can say that it was very sweet.

January 25, 2010

Took an afternoon out for some snow time on Mt. Charleston. Oliver LOVES the snow (can you tell from his expression?) and spent the majority of his time chucking snowballs at the adults, then laughing about it!
